Growing up as the eldest among five siblings - Edith H. (Schooler) Conant, Anna A. (Schooler) Holmes, Harold D. Schooler, and Murray B. Schooler - Karl learned the value of hard work and family from an early age.
For most of his life, Karl tended to his farm in North East Warren County, where he operated his own threshing machine, providing custom threshing services for local farmers for an impressive 27 years. Despite the demands of farm life, Karl possessed an adventurous spirit, indulging his love for travel by exploring much of the United States, as well as venturing into Canada and Mexico.
Beyond his work and travels, Karl was deeply committed to his community and its history. A life member of the Warren County Historical Society, he cherished preserving the heritage of his community. Karl's faith was central to his life, and he generously supported local Baptist churches, embodying his Christian values through acts of kindness and service.
Although Karl never married or had children of his own, his impact on future generations is profound. In a testament to his generosity and foresight, Karl established a Scholarship Trust in his will, entrusting his family to oversee the earnings from his land and farm profits. These funds continue to provide educational opportunities for Warren County students, ensuring that Karl's legacy of generosity and dedication lives on.
Karl Peter Schooler passed away on April 6th, 1998, in Carlisle, Iowa, at the remarkable age of 99. His enduring legacy serves as a testament to the power of one individual's commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.
